About

Omagh In-Spires. Omagh’s Four Hill Churches: A Journey Through Our Shared Heritage

How often do we pass these magnificent churches without ever wondering what lies behind their doors? How were they built? Who built them? And what stories do they hold? Visit

For the first time, as part of European Heritage Open Day, this unique guided tour brings together Omagh’s four historic hill churches, offering a rare opportunity to step inside these familiar landmarks and discover the fascinating history, architecture and craftsmanship behind them.

From their striking architecture and historic interiors to the communities and generations who have worshipped within their walls, the tour explores the churches as an important part of Omagh’s shared built heritage.

This is a chance to see these iconic buildings in a completely new way — to look beyond the familiar exterior, discover details you may never have noticed and hear the stories that have shaped these places and the town around them.
Come and open the doors, look closer and discover the history hiding in plain sight.

This free and respectful event is open to all and offers a unique opportunity to reflect on our shared history and the places that have helped shape Omagh.

Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult. The event is not suitable for very young children, prams or buggies.
Prepare for all weather; comfortable footwear is recommended as this is a 3-hour tour.

Tea, Coffee and traybakes provided in St Joseph's Hall at the end of the tour (aprox 2.30pm - 3pm)

The walk will start from the Strule Arts Centre; please arrive 15 minutes before the start time.
