Pigment to Paint-A practical guide to making your own water based paint

In this workshop led by artist Helen Bullock McFarland, you will learn the process of making pigment into paint and produce your own unique water based colour palette to take home.

During the workshop you will discover the traditional processes by which pigments are extracted from natural sources and find out how these can be transformed using traditional mediums from nature. Using traditional formulas practiced by artists throughout the ages, you will produce paints suitable for painting watercolours and egg tempera using ground pigments.

All essential materials will be provided, though you may wish to bring along your own preferred paint brushes, sketchbooks and aprons.

The workshop is suitable for artists that wish to develop their practice.
