Songs of Love & Inspiration with David Parkes & Christ the King Youth Choir
David Parkes, the son of a successful band leader and trumpet player, born in Dublin, was a professional soccer player. Several years ago, he was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease and his medical team said that there was nothing more they could do for him. After a fundraising event run by his friends, an invitation was issued to David and his wife Anne to travel to Medjugorje, where our Blessed Mother has been appearing daily to a group of young people since 1981.
In Medjugorje David reluctantly attended a healing Mass and found himself within three seconds lying on the ground where he remained for 20 minutes. Within two days of the blessings, David Parkes had begun to feel much better with far less physical symptoms. On his return to Ireland he showed no further symptoms of Crohn's disease and he continues to be free of this deadly disease. Shortly afterwards he decided to dedicate his life witnessing to the great healing power of God and now works in Medjugorje as a Pilgrimage Director.
David also returned to his musical roots and in November 1992 David released his first album in the United States ‘Let Me Live’. David has entertained audiences of up to 30,000 people when Mother Teresa requested he sung for her historic visit to Knock and has appeared on the BBC weekly series "Songs of Praise", which was seen by over 88 million viewers worldwide. David continues to perform worldwide as a motivational and uplifting singer and speaker.
Joining David for this special Omagh concert is Toomebridge singer Cara Clarke and Christ The King Youth Choir. Christ The King Youth Choir is based in Christ The King Church, Strathroy, Cappagh Parish and has over 30 members aged 11-25 from across Omagh and the surrounding areas.
